Listing 6 of the best cafes in Hong Kong. From a quirky little spot on bustling Stanley Street to a sleek, minimalist coffee shop in the famous Monster Building out at Quarry Bay. We drank excellent coffee at all of the spots listed below and can personally vouch that their coffee quality is top-class.
These are the very best cafes in Hong Kong!

The Coffee Academics
- Address: Various locations throughout the city – we like the one on Tsim Sha Tsui
This cool chain of coffee shops is one of our favorite spots for a strong coffee in Hong Kong. They have a couple of locations dotted throughout the city – including one in Wan Chai, in Kwun Tong, Mong Kok, and in Tsim Sha Tsui (this one is our favorite).
They roast their own coffee beans, and their coffee is now served on board Cathay Pacific Flights. Their coffee has won heaps of awards and was recently named by TimeOut Magazine as one of the best Cafes in Hong Kong.
As for my go-to order here, I love their Cold Brew.
They also serve food here, and most of their locations are open as late as 10 pm.

NOC Coffee Co.
- Address: Six locations in the city, we like the one at Lee Garden Three in Causeway Bay
If you’re after a cozy and minimalist aesthetic, NOC Coffee Co. is a must-visit. expertly roasted beans and a menu filled with delightful pastries. They source their beans from around the world, and their beans change every season.
They serve healthy food dishes, and because their stores are quite small, it’s a cozy spot to hang out for a bit.
Elephant Grounds
- Address: Six locations in the city, we like the one at Mid-Levels
Elephant Grounds is a little bit different as it combines a unique blend of coffee and community spirit; their stores often feature local artists and events, making it a hub for creative minds.
What I like about it is that it started as a little coffee counter and has grown into several busy spots around the city. And each of their cafés mixes rustic charm with modern design, creating a cozy hangout.
Of course, their coffee is killer (my go-to is their Flat White), and Elephant Grounds also serves up tasty food, from filling brunches to mouthwatering desserts. Their ice cream sandwiches are a big hit!

Knockbox Coffee Company
- Address: Two locations – one in Mong Kok, one on Stanley St. in Central
While wandering the bustling streets of Central, we found Knockbox Coffee Company, a small store that is celebrated for its commitment to artisanal roasting and brewing techniques.
This small coffee chain is all about quality and sustainability, and they really care about where their beans come from, working directly with farmers to get the best flavors. The vibe in their cafes is super chill, and if you’re into learning more about coffee, they offer fun coffee workshops and tastings to help you dive deeper into the world of specialty coffee.
They also have a location in Mong Kok.

% Arabica
- Address: Numerous locations in the city, we visited the one at the famous Monster Mansions
Another popular spot is % Arabica, which has several stores throughout the city, including one at the famous Monster Building in Quarry Bay and one in the picturesque Star Street Precinct.
Here we enjoyed their varied selection of single-origin coffees in a minimalist setting. Their stores are small with limited or no seating, so we recommend grabbing your brew to-go.
This coffee chain originated in Kyoto, which explains the minimalist, sleek design. And my go-to order is their Dark Latte.

18 Grams
- Address: Causeway Bay
18 Grams has garnered a reputation in the city for its expertly crafted brews and welcoming atmosphere. The name “18 Grams” itself refers to the ideal amount of coffee grounds used to produce a perfect espresso shot, emphasizing their commitment to precision and quality. Their menu offers a variety of coffee beverages, including espressos, lattes, and pour-overs, alongside delicious pastries and light bites.
